Location: Brain and Mind Centre, University of Sydney (94 Mallett Street, Camperdown NSW 2050)

This workshop will offer a modular programme covering recent advances in the identification of neuroimaging biomarkers of diagnosis and prognosis in FTD, in both clinical and preclinical stages. There will be4 x40min masterclasses offered by leading neuroimaging experts on cutting-edge topics related to neuroimaging research in FTD. The workshop will be suitable for participants from a range of clinical, dementia care and research background professions.

Program

Session 1: Applications of resting-state connectivity to neurodegenerative disease

Presented by Dr Marion Sourty and Dr Daniel Roquet

The University of Sydney (USyd) Sydney (AUS)

Session 2: Neuropsychiatric symptoms in FTD: the missing link?

Presented by Prof Yolande Pijnenburg VU University Medical Centre, Amsterdam (NE)

and Dr Annemiek Dols GGZ ingest, Amsterdam (NE)

To date, the most intriguing clinical dilemma in the diagnosis of bvFTD is its differentiation from late-onset primary psychiatric disorders, such as depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia. Not only do these disorders overlap in terms of clinical symptoms, there is also overlap in structural and functional neuroimaging findings. In this workshop, a number of interactive case vignettes will illustrate the clinical approach of this dilemma. We will also summarize the latest insights from research and generate clinical recommendations for the neuropsychiatric diagnosis of bvFTD based on clinical symptoms and neuroimaging.

Session 3: Multimodal imaging-based applications to neurodegeneration: from the scanner to the clinics

Presented by Dr Lucas SedeƱo

Instituto de Neurologia Cognitiva (INECO), Buenos Aires (AR)

Session 4: Uncovering the relations between pathology and neurodegeneration in FTD

Presented by Dr Cristian Leyton

Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School
