Andrew Browning is an Australian trained obstetrician who has spent his entire professional career volunteering in Africa as a medical missionary specializing in obstetric fistula surgery.
He has been involved in the care of over 14,000 fistula patients across Africa and SE Asia and is considered a world expert in his field. He was involved in establishing charities in Ethiopia and Tanzania to build and run free maternity hospitals for the poor, to prevent fistula and to train midwives in clinical skills. These charities and hospitals have overseen the safe delivery of over 120,000 women to date and trained over 1000 midwives in clinical skills. He co-founded the Barbara May Foundation in Australia to fund those hospitals.
He has been integral to starting fistula services in several countries around Africa and SE Asia has developed new surgical techniques that are now standard practice across the globe. He oversees the FIGO (International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) global fistula surgery training program as the past-chair of the FIGO Fistula and Genital Trauma Committee and chair of the FIGO Expert Advisory Group on Obstetric Fistula. He advises the UN and WHO on fistula and related issues and he is a frequent keynote speaker at international medical conferences. He is Adjunct Professor for Global Women’s Health at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and Medical Advisor for the Fistula Foundation, California.
He over 60 scientific publications, books and chapters and co-wrote the main fistula textbook with Brian Hancock which is distributed to all FIGO fistula trainees.
He was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to international maternal health.

Ben is a consultant urological surgeon with a special interest in the minimally invasive treatments of prostatic diseases. He is the Guy’s & St Thomas’ MDM urological cancer and clinical robotics lead, a UK robotic surgery mentor and robotic fellowship director. He trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, The Royal Marsden Hospital and with Professor Tony Costello at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he was awarded the prestigious Rowan Nicks Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was the British Association of Urology (BAUS) Oncology Section Chairman 2018-20 and in 2019 was awarded the BAUS Golden Cystoscope for contributions to British Urology within 10 years of consultant appointment. He is an RSM urology section committee member having been secretary 2019-20 and is a Board Member of Trends in Urology and Men’s Health.
He has learnt both laparoscopic and robotic surgical approaches and performed the first randomised trial of telerobotics between Guy’s and Johns Hopkins Hospitals, in 2002. This formed part of his Master of Surgery thesis on robotic surgery and telemedicine. Ben has been associate editor of the BJUI 2012-2020, with over 260 peer-reviewed publications (h index 60), 3 books, and 25 book chapters on minimally invasive and robotic urological techniques.
He has performed over 1500 robotic radical prostatectomies and over 1400 robotic upper tract procedures including 840 robotic partial nephrectomies and also performs holmium laser prostatectomy (HoLEP) with an experience of over 1600 cases. He has also helped to develop both the robotic cystectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy programmes at Guy’s Hospital and is the highest volume surgeon for both robotic partial nephrectomy and upper tract robotics in the UK. His current research interests are in pan speciality robotic surgery training, novel robotic systems including Versius, HUGO and da Vinci SP, and 3D modelling development in robotic surgery.
Ben is a Trustee of The Urology Foundation Charity, for whom he regularly lectures, and is fortunate to have a very supportive surgical wife and three energetic boys.

Professor James A. Eastham, MD, is a surgical oncologist who completed his fellowship in urologic oncology in 1995 and has been in practice since then, devoting the past 20 years exclusively to the care of men with prostate cancer. He currently is Chief of the Urology Service in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Director of Clinical Research for the Urology Service, and Co-Leader of the Genitourinary Disease Management Team at MSK. Dr. Eastham holds the Peter T. Scardino Chair in Oncology at MSK. He is also a professor of urology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2001. In 2017 he was named an honorary professor at Macquarie University in Australia. He is a member of the Prostate Cancer Guidelines Committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), President of the New York Section of the AUA, and a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons (AUA representative). He moved from Sydney to Orange in 2013 after completing his oncology training and a genitourinary fellowship at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver.
Rob’s passion is improving the disparity in cancer outcomes between rural and metropolitan patients and has a particular passion for increasing access to clinical trials to rural patients.
Research interests include implementation science, improving the patient experience and direct clinical research through involvement in investigator and sponsor led clinical trials. He also assists the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in preparation of basic physician training.
