Welcome Message

On behalf of the Spine Society of Australia it is my great pleasure to extend my invitation for you to attend our Society’s 27th Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in the vibrant city of Melbourne from 8-10 April 2016. The meeting will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre beside the Yarra River.

The 2016 meeting theme will be ‘New Technologies’.

In recent years there have been further exciting developments in regard to imaging and surgical navigation techniques, as well as further improvements in minimally invasive spinal surgery. Our meeting should be of particular interest to both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons practising in the field of spinal surgery and also to researchers and other professionals dedicated to conditions of the spine.

Dr David Jaffray, Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon from Oswestry, United Kingdom will be joined by other international guest speakers to make up a varied and interesting scientific programme, which is being put together by Associate Professor Richard Williams, Scientific Convenor. As in previous years, the programme will feature the ‘Getting of Surgical Wisdom’ session in which we will hear from our senior and well respected colleagues who can tell us about their past experiences and lessons learnt.

Melbourne will provide a wonderful backdrop to our meeting and you will have the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic social programme and hopefully have time to stay and explore this beautiful city. I look forward to seeing you in Melbourne!
