2019 Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand

2019 Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand 4th Annual Scientific MeetingSunday 20 - Wednesday 23 October 2019 | Adelaide Convention Centre

Sustainability Initiatives at RMSANZ 2019

Hosting a sustainable conference is important to us. Here is what RMSANZ, DC Conferences and the Adelaide Convention Centre are doing to try and achieve this:

 Single Use Plastic

  • Don’t forget your keep cup! We all know how much that morning coffee helps get us through that first plenary session of the morning, but we urge all delegates to bring their reusable coffee cups with them. If every delegate used a reusable coffee cup instead of a one-use takeaway option we could save over 1000 cups going into land fill at RMSANZ 2019 alone!
  • No bottled water will be available
    • Please bring your reusable water bottle with you, taps are available throughout ACC to fill up.
    • In the sessions, jugs of water and glasses will be available.
    • In the foyer and during catering breaks, cups made out of biodegradable corn starch will be utilised. Putting your used cup in specific bins will see them get turned into worm food, in the largest worm farm in the southern hemisphere!

Sustainable Resources

The lanyards and satchels used at RMSANZ 2019 are made from bamboo. They are ecologically friendly and biodegradable.

The company RMSANZ have chosen to work with to produce these offset 100% of their carbon emissions through the purchase of carbon offsets used for Energy projects in Wind farms in China.

Conference App

There will be no conference handbook available at RMSANZ 2019. All information normally found in the handbook is now available through the conference app.

The conference app provides delegates with more information than a handbook ever could; delegates can read through a number of abstracts and information that previously could not fit into a conference handbook, browse digital copies of submitted posters, connect with exhibitors and other delegates, plus so much more.

Adelaide Convention Centre

Consistently performing at ‘above best practice’ in several key areas of natural resource preservation, the Adelaide Convention Centre has actively participated in the EarthCheck program since 2007, and is proud to be one of the first convention centres in the world to be awarded the coveted EarthCheck Platinum certification.

ACC purchase 97% of their produce from local suppliers, enjoy long-standing partnerships with OzHarvest, Foodbank and Variety SA, and offer employment opportunities and apprenticeships through various organisations.

ACC aims, through the implementation and application of the ACC’s Environment and Social Sustainability Policy, to commit to Fair Trade Principles where feasible.
