The Carpenters Workshop

The Carpenter’s Workshop, in the grounds of Elanora Uniting Church, is a non profit group for members from the local community who want to learn or practise skills in woodwork. The Workshop was established over 20 years ago in concern of social isolation experienced by many retirees, unemployed and widows living on the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads area.

The workshop is staffed by a group of retired tradesmen who volunteer their services and members get to use the first class tools and equipment in the workshop for wood turning, cabinet making and carpentry for their own projects.

Tamborine Mountain Community Men's Shed Association Inc

In 2010 a group of local Tamborine Mountain men resolved to establish a Community Men's Shed 'on the mountain'. The sheds attracts members from various parts of the Gold Coast and hinterland, an area of retirees many of whom are isolated.

The shed provides a meeting place, range of activities including wood and metalwork, computers, community projects and skills training.
