Danny J. Eckert BAppl Sci, BSc (Hons), PhD, FAASM, ATSF is a Matthew Flinders Professor at Flinders University, a NHMRC Leadership Fellow and a Lead Investigator at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston (part-time). He serves as Director of Sleep Health at Flinders University where he leads a comprehensive basic sciences and translational research program comprised of >70 multidisciplinary sleep researchers. Professor Eckert has published >240 papers in the leading sleep/respiratory and general medical journals. He is most well-known for his pioneering sleep apnoea mechanistic and treatment work which has led to new precision medicine approaches to treat this chronic respiratory condition including development of novel pharmacotherapy and for his broader sleep health research and advocacy work including leading the multi-award winning 3-part TV series, Australia’s Sleep Revolution with Dr Michael Mosley.

Margaret (MN, MSc Epidemiology, Prof Cert Pain Science) is a Clinical Nurse Consultant in the Integrated Pain Service at Austin Health in Victoria.

Commencing a clinical PhD through Melbourne Academic Centre for Health in 2026, her primary research focus is the transitional care of sub-acute pain - supporting complex patients to recover functionally and wean analgesia after acute pain episodes.

Through this, she advocates for development of Transitional Pain Services to improve patients' pain trajectories, function, and quality of life.

Tash offers a unique perspective informed by both clinical and educational expertise, ranging from nursing education to clinical research.

Kate is an Addiction Medicine Specialist at DASSA with a background in General Practice, whose areas of interest include viral hepatitis and chronic liver disease in people who use alcohol and other drugs, the emerging role of GLP-1 agonists in addiction treatment, and co-morbid chronic pain and opioid dependence. She is the current SA Rep on the Chapter of Addiction Medicine Committee and was the Deputy Chair of the Addiction Medicine Curriculum Review Group. Kate is the Vice President/President-elect of the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs, and will become the President of APSAD in November 2027.
