Cannabinoids Debate

Is Cannabis the next opioid crisis? Perspectives on pain, people and policy
Monday 6 April 2020, Plenary Session 2 | 3.45 – 5.15pm

Medicinal cannabis is a hotly debated topic, often argued by passionate voices with firmly held beliefs. But what does the evidence really say about this product in the pain sector? And what are the political and consumer implications of this debate? This session invites you to join a lively expert panel discussion exploring all sides of medicinal cannabis including the good, the bad, the political and the consumer perspective.

First up, A/Professors David Caldicott and Mick Vagg will explore the current evidence regarding medicinal cannabis and pain – each presenting an opposing side of the debate “Is cannabis the next opioid crisis waiting to happen?”.

Then, our doctors will be joined on stage by Hon. Ruth Forrest (Independent Member for Murchison) and Ms Alison Park (Consumer Representative, Arthritis Tasmania) for a guided Q & A session, facilitated by Dr Sam Whittle.

This is your chance to see the experts go head to head and to have your questions answered by those in the know.  It’s a new format for APS conferences and a discussion not to be missed!
