Our theme for the 2024 ASM is Sustainability - Connect, Respect, Heal. We understand that human health requires a healthy planet, with an environment that is free of pollution, rich in biodiversity and able to provide for current and future generations sustainably.
DC Conference and Association Managements Sustainability Approach
DCC&A is dedicated to sustainable event management, actively collaborating with organizing committees to implement environmentally friendly policies. By engaging with suppliers who prioritize sustainability is an important step in promoting eco-friendly initiatives throughout the conference supply chain. Practices like the carbon offset project, we demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility. These efforts showcase our genuine dedication to making a positive difference for the environment and communities they serve.
General:
- Reduce the need for printed material and replace with electronic versions.
- Print name badges on biodegradable paper without plastic.
- Use QR code on name badges to scan details, instead of utilising business cards.
- Utilisation of Conference App for all information onsite to minimise paper use.
- Engage with OzHarvest.
- Reduce food waste by carefully monitoring catering numbers.
- Ask delegates to bring their own water bottles and coffee cups.
- Recycle waste materials.
- Choose the conference destination that has sustainability regulations.
Exhibition:
- Limit or cease the provision of giveaways at stands or look for environmentally friendly alternatives.
- Utilize bins placed throughout the exhibition space to seperate the waste.
- Utilize digital content where possible to minimise printing.
- Turn off all stand equipment and lighting overnight.
Esplanade Hotel, Walyalup Fremantle Sustainability Approach
The Esplanade Hotel is proud to align with EVT’s environmental policies, earning a Sustainable Tourism Accreditation from the Tourism Council Australia. Their dedication to sustainable practices is showcased in their initiatives for the 2024 ASM.
Conference Space:
- Provide reusable water jugs and glasses for exhibitor.
- Partner with OzHarvest to address food wastage.
- Transition to energy-efficient LED lighting.
Accommodation:
- Encourage guests to reduce environmental impact by opting out of housekeeping services.
- Adopt digital solutions to minimize paper use, limiting printed materials to 10 pages per delegate.
- Monthly hardcover welcome letters replace single-use paper.
General:
- Accessible recycling bins with proceeds donated to charity quarterly.
- Maintain a 45% waste diversion rate with a goal to reach 60%.
- KeepCups; guests get a $1 discount for using reusable cups.
- Dual bins in guest rooms for waste segregation.
- Replace old equipment with energy-efficient units.
- Quarterly Sustainability Meetings to audit and enhance practices.
Perth Expo Hire Sustainability Approach
Perth Expo Hire demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability for the 2024 ASM through various initiatives.
Printing:
Electrical Management:
- Upgraded their equipment and lighting to 100% energy-efficient LED to meet emission targets.
- Installed 210 solar panels, generating approximately 70kW and achieving 82% power savings.
Custom Stands:
- Offers to hire custom stands for exhibitors that are reusable up to 10 times, significantly reducing landfill waste.
Corflute Fascias:
- Transitioned from PVC to recyclable corflute fascias with environmentally acceptable inks.
- Their new recyclable panels for shell scheme stands are made from renewable raw materials and 100% paper fibers.
