The ANZSCoS 2012 Annual Scientific Meeting will take place at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins.

Only 25 minutes from Melbourne Domestic Airport, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins is situated at the ‘Paris’ end of Collins Street in the heart of Melbourne’s central business district, and close to the city’s premier dining, shopping, and entertainment precincts and major attractions.

Sofitel Melbourne on Collins is one of the city’s most comprehensive integrated hotel conference venues with 12 individual meeting spaces, including a large pillar-less Ballroom, a tiered 379-seat auditorium, and private 35th floor function rooms, as well as comprehensive audio-visual facilities and car hoist for large exhibition items.

Melbourne's Weather and Climate

Melbourne has a reputation for its changeable weather. A tip for any visitor is to be prepared for anything – take an umbrella and wear layers that can be worn or removed as needed!

As a general rule, Melbourne enjoys a temperate climate with warm to hot summers, mild and sometimes balmy springs and autumns, and cool winters.

While Melbourne has a reputation for rain, the city actually receives less rainfall than either Brisbane or Sydney. Experience the glorious foliage of the many European-style parks that fringe the CBD as Melbourne welcomes the spring season.

Temperatures in Melbourne during the ANZSCoS 2012 Conference may range from 11°C (52°F)  to 20°C (68°F).

Getting to Melbourne

Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar are the major domestic carriers and are housed within the main terminal at Melbourne Airport. Jetstar also flies from Avalon Airport near Geelong. The airlines operate regular services throughout the day from Australia’s major cities, with flights leaving every 15 minutes in busy periods.

For airline travel within Victoria you can choose from several regional airlines, such as Qantas Link and REX (Regional Express), which fly to Melbourne and larger regional centres including Mildura, Portland, Traralgon and Mount Hotham. Smaller airlines also operate out of these regional centres
