Abstract submission for the ACNP 2016 Conference has now closed. The Program Committee would like to thank all submitting authors for their contributions. Authors will be notified of the outcomes of their submissions by 6 May 2016.
The Organising Committee invites you to submit your abstract for a poster or oral presentation to be considered for inclusion in the 2016 Australian College of Nurse Practitioner Conference (incorporating NursePrac ED). Abstracts should fall within one of the following categories:
- Clinical practice
- Program evaluation/quality improvement
- Scientific study
Detailed guidelines for each category follow.
Abstract submission is via the online abstract submission form accessed through the dropdown menu at the side of this page.
You will be required to submit your contact details and details of your abstract into the online form (abstract title, presenting author, preferred presentation type, etc). At the end of this form you will attach your abstract in Microsoft Word format using the abstract template which can be downloaded below.
Please ensure that ALL requested information is completed as requested. Once your abstract submission is successfully uploaded you will receive a confirmation email at the email address you have specified.

General Information
- Abstract submissions must be original contributions not previously presented or published
- All abstracts must be submitted no later than midnight 30 March 2016 Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time (AEST)
- Abstracts must be submitted in English as a Microsoft word document based on the template provided on this website
- Abstracts are limited to 300 words (one page abstract template must be used) inclusive of title, author(s) names, and institutional affiliation(s) and references
- Please do not use abbreviations unless defined in the abstract
- All submissions should be in Microsoft Word format and file size no bigger than 1mb
- Scientific symbols, figures and tables are permitted
- Multiple abstracts can be uploaded by the same presenting author on the online submission form. You will be required to complete category, author, details etc for each paper before submitting your next one
- Your abstract will appear in print as submitted so please ensure you check your data carefully before submitting. Should you require changes please email an updated version to the Conference Secretariat at: acnp2016@dccam.com.au
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts must be submitted using the abstract template as a guide for layout. Submitted abstracts that do not follow the layout will not be accepted.

The Review Committee will select abstracts for either an oral presentation (15 minute presentation plus 5 minute question time) or a poster presentation, unless the author indicates a specific preference for a poster presentation only.
When submitting your abstract you will be asked to nominate a category which you feel is most appropriate for the submission. Prepare your abstract according to the following guidelines for your category:
1. Clinical Practice / Case Studies / Service Delivery
These abstracts must contain:
- An introduction or background statement that puts the issue in context
- A clear description of the issue following a logical timeline
- A description of the relevant observations, preferably using objective data and information
- Outcomes – how the issues were managed / resolved
- Recommendations or implications for health education / specialty care
2. Program Evaluation / Review of Resource Delivery / Quality of Improvement Activity
These abstracts must contain:
- An introduction or background explaining the evaluated activity
- An aim to indicate what was being measured
- How the evaluation was undertaken (method)
- Who was evaluated (program, clients, service)
- What tools were used? Were they validated tools? How they were validated?
- Results which must reflect the aim
- A conclusion or recommendation that is related to the aim and the results
3. Scientific
A scientific abstract must contain:
- An aim or hypothesis
- Clearly defined methodology (quantitative, qualitative)
- How the study was conducted
- Who / what was studied
- Were the tools used validated in the study? How they were validated?
- How was the data analysed?
- The results of the study must relate to the hypothesis or aim
- A conclusion and recommendation that relates to the aim and is an outcome of the results.

Poster Presenters - Rapid Communication Session
Poster presenters will be offered an opportunity to present their posters in a rapid communication session.
Presenters will have 4 minutes to present their poster and 1 minute of questions. The presentation is to include a maximum of three (3) slides in powerpoint as a snapshot of your poster.
Authors of accepted abstracts will receive information regarding the processes involved in a rapid communication prior to the meeting.
Please indicate on your submission if you wish to be considered for the Rapid Communication Session.

By submitting an abstract you are agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions:
- I confirm that each author / presenter listed agree with the content of this abstract and has given permission to be listed as an author / presenter
- I have checked the accuracy of the information and referencing within this abstract
- I have not previously presented and/or published this abstract
- If this abstract involves a sponsoring company, the sponsor has been referenced in the body of the abstract
- If this abstract involves a sponsoring company, I confirm that none of the authors / presenters listed has financial interest with the sponsoring company
- If this abstract involves a sponsoring company, I confirm that none of the authors / presenters listed has received funding within the last five years
- Funding bodies should be acknowledged in the abstract
- I hereby provide permission for the Organisers and Committee of the Conference to publish my abstract in the Conference App and Conference website.
- I hereby provide permission for the Organisers and Committee of the Conference to publish the email address for the lead presenter in the Conference App and Conference website.
- I understand that my abstract will be published, if accepted, as submitted and that no editing to grammar or spelling will be undertaken by the Organising Committee.
